About Dula Bhaya Kag

Dula Bhaya Kag, also known as Kag Bapu and Bhagat Bapu, was born on November 25, 1903, in Sodvadari village, near Mahuva, Gujarat. Despite limited formal education, he became a significant figure in Gujarati literature, blending traditional and modern themes.

His most notable work, Kagvani, includes devotional songs inspired by the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Gandhian philosophy, and the Bhoodan movement. He also wrote books on Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave, reflecting his involvement in social and nationalist causes.

Legacy and Recognition

Dula Bhaya Kag was awarded the Padma Shri in 1962 for his literary contributions. In 2004, the Government of India honored him with a ₹5 commemorative stamp. His village, Majadar, was renamed Kagdham in his memory, and his poetry enriches Gujarati literature curricula from primary to university levels.
